Actor Rosyam Nor has apologised over his suggestion that brothels dedicated to migrants be established to prevent rape.
The 57-year-old, whose real name is Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin, said he did not expect his statement to become viral, and the subject of widespread backlash.
“There’s been chaos the last few days on my comment regarding brothels. Whatever the case, I would like to apologise (for it) as I did not expect it to become viral.
“That’s actually a promotion for a podcast episode called ‘Otak Porno’ (Pornographic Mind) on Suhan Channel. It (the remark) was a discussion, so I suggest all go to Suhan Channel to watch the (podcast) video in full,” Rosyam said on his Instagram today.
Suhan Channel is a digital platform run by Rosyam’s own production company, containing discussions on various topics.
Rosyam had earlier drawn flak from politicians and activists for his comment.
