On 'Bloodshed' in Parliament

Shocked Citizen: I nearly fell of my chair with shock as I read about how a group of MPs had decided to slaughter goats and cows on Parliament grounds for a 'kenduri'. First of all - what's a Parliament building for? Apparently, when it was built, it was and is meant for 'a formal conference for the discussion of public affairs' - 'Parliament' as defined by the Merriam- Webster's dictionary).

Since a group of single-minded MPs have decided to change its designation to an abattoir, I take it that they 'slaughtered' the sole purpose of the Parliament. Slaughtering animals for a 'kenduri' held at a public government building should be done elsewhere, period.

I'm pretty sure the PM and his wife would have appreciated it far more if the slaughter was done elsewhere.

It is a disgrace and an insult to what our Parliament stands for, not to mention an affront to the non-Malays present.

Dhammika: The killing of cows and goats at the Parliament House should not have happened. The Parliament is not an abattoir. The area is not prepared and approved for slaughtering. If this can be done, then the public can slaughter chickens and cattle in KLCC or the Putrajaya government complex or any where else for that matter.

This slaughter has offended the non-Muslim MPs. What have the MCA and Gerakan got to say? Stop all killings for goodness sake. Those responsible will pay for this crime through the theory of Cause and Effect in this very life.

Seeing the tears of the cattle before they die is enough to say it is morally wrong. How would they feel if they are slaughtered the same way? Please learn to avoid doing all evil. Do all the good and purify the mind.

But I can decide to leave Islam and adopt another religion. Or no religion for that matter. Religion is not in my genes. Neither is it in anyone else's. Religion is a belief and thought system. There's nothing solid in it. Nothing that one can hold, touch nor feel physically (I'm not talking about deities or symbols here).

So if people like Revathi or Lina Joy want to leave Islam (regardless if they were born Muslims or come into it for whatever reason), they should be allowed to do so. They shouldn't even have to go through 'rehabilitation'. To keep on forcing them is insulting the religion further.

Already Revathi says she hates Islam even more. But she's a simpleton - it is not the religion, it's

always the people who profess it that often denigrate it by their actions.

Ah Chong: Here we go again, another year another opportunity for Malaysians to wear face masks and fall ill with cough and congestion lungs. More asthma attacks and empty promises from our leaders and those of our neighbours. More money spent again on Ministeral meetings in Jakarta on how to prevent this from happening again next year. It's a whole lot of hog wash and empty talk.

Year after year we lose revenue on sick employees, reduced tourists and closed school days and yet year after year after the same excuse, "lack of enforcement." If the government of Indonesia cannot enforce then for goodness sake, the Malaysian air force or military can help with enforcement by making frequent air fly bys and coordinating efforts with the Indonesian authority. Where there is a will there is a way. Unfortunately I think the will is lacking.
