Gerakan elected representatives have been advised not to be arrogant with the Yang Berhormat (The Honourable) title but to regard it as an honour to serve the people.

"The title can be withdrawn because the voters decide your future. So, don't be proud and show off. Serve the people in the best possible way so that the people will continue supporting the party," said Gerakan advisor Dr Lim Keng Yaik said in Kedah last night..

He reminded party leaders not to use their party and government positions to enrich themselves, according to a Bernama report.

Be cordial

Gerakan leaders, right from the grassroots to the top leadership, must work with leaders of BN component parties to ensure victory for the coalition in the coming general election, he said at a party function in Bandar Baharu.

"They must always maintain cordial relations among the various races in the country so that the peace and harmony enjoyed by the country will continue to be the hallmark of the BN's success in governing the nation," said the Energy, Water and Communications Minister.

Lim said that the BN government would continue to implement projects and programmes to improve the people's well-being, adding that it would take advantage of the higher commodity prices like rubber and oil palm to ensure the people enjoyed a quality living.
