Fahmi questions PAS leaders’ presence in Kangar instead of KKB

KKB BY-ELECTION | PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil has raised questions about the presence of top PAS leaders in Perlis rather than Kuala Kubu Baharu.

Fahmi called it quite “interesting”, but he was unsure what PAS leaders were trying to convey in not being in Kuala Kubu Baharu, especially on Nomination Day for the by-election.

"I see that the top PAS leadership, all of them are in Perlis… I'm not sure what it means when they are not together (with the Perikatan Nasional candidate) in Kuala Kubu Baharu," he told reporters in Kuala Perlis yesterday, adding that he had visited the Selangor state constituency recently.

Earlier, Fahmi (above), who is on a three-day working visit to Perlis, attended the Jiwa Madani Programme in Kampung Seberang Ramai.

It is understood that PAS was organising the party's central-level Hari Raya Open House event at Dewan 2020, Kangar.

Among the PAS leaders who attended the programme yesterday were PAS spiritual adviser Hashim Jasin, party president Abdul Hadi Awang, his deputy Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

Govt confident of KKB win

Fahmi said the candidate representing the coalition government - Pang Sock Tao - had a bright chance of winning the polls.

The by-election sees DAP's Pang in a four-cornered contest against PN’s candidate from Bersatu Khairul Azhari Saut, Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and Nyau Ke Xin (independent).

The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is being held following the death of incumbent Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21, due to cancer.

Early voting will take place on May 7 while May 11 is polling day.
