English newspapers

The Star featured Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi launching the North Corridor Economic Region (NCER) which aims to promote Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Penang as the country's food providers and net exporters.

New Straits Times also highlighted the NCER together with some statistics. It also carried a quote by Inspector General of Police Musa Hassan saying he was framed by his own men over the recent corruption charges against him.

Malay newspapers

Berita Harian reported that the NCER aims to jumpstart rural development and carried the story about the IGP saying police officers were abusing their powers by trying to accuse him of corruption.

Utusan Malaysia carried the launch of the NCER. It also highlighted that Malaysian Airlines (MAS) has been given two days by the government to resolve its flight delay problems.

Chinese newspapers

Oriental Daily News reported the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) condemning Education Ministry officials for going after teachers who give part-time tuition classes by conducting spot checks on their houses.

Sin Chew Daily and Nanyang Siang Pau frontpaged the RM177 billion northen development masterplan in the states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak.

Tamil newspapers

All three Tamil dailies - Malaysia Nanban , Tamil Nesan and Makkal Osai - led with the launching of the NCER by the premier yesterday.

Malaysia Nanban and Makkal Osai also highlighted the demolition of a Hindu temple in Malacca yesterday.

Makkal Osai also gave prominent coverage to the mystery surrounding the sudden death of drama actress K Sujatha.

New Straits Times labelled NCER as a 'small and quiet revolution' and said the first challenge for this project will be organisational and administrative.
