Totalitarian regimes in public universities
It is an irony that our Education Ministry aspires to develop our future generations to have the intellectual capability to think out of the box but on the other hand, we have totalitarian regimes in the public universities that do not practice what they preach.
On UUM VC: Apologise or we'll slap you with an injunction
YC: It is totally against intellectual development and freedom of speech for the UUM VC to issue a lawyer's letter to silence Dr Azly Rahman.
I have been following Dr Azly's writings and have high regard for his rational thought and fair comments. Many of his articles touch on the very fundamental principles of humanities and good governance and in no way contain slanderous remarks against UUM.
It is an irony that our Education Ministry aspires to develop our future generations to have the intellectual capability to think out of the box but on the other hand, we have totalitarian regimes in the public universities that do not practice what they preach and totally disregard the noble cause of our education ministry.
Another sad day for the future of our local institutions of higher learning and just when the country celebrating 50 years of independence.
Yee: Arrogance! This is for all rakyat to know, to see and to remember. Whether it be Malays, Indians or Chinese; the ruling government under the Barisan Nasional party with Umno as its leader shows utter contempt and disrespect to the rakyat who put them there. The government is out of control with government officials acting on their own free will and accord without respect for the law or the rights of the rakyat.
This temple demolition was carried out on private property and by a rogue group of people who have enough powers to harness the police machinery. It was not an official town council demolition exercise. This type of arrogance is only possible by a political party who have been in power for the last two decades. We must remember their deeds and remember to push them out when the next general election comes around.

YSM: Now the police should call up the blog owner for a statement. Let's see how quickly they do it. If they don't take action, it only shows that the police are a tool of Umno. They do not really care about sedition or keeping the peace.
Siew Wah: With due respect to PT Tan, he certainly knows what a good government means. My prayers go to all Malaysians who value good government and governance and for them to cast their votes wisely in the coming elections. May all be well and happy.
Geneva M: I find Dr Asthma's letter justifying the killing of hostages in Afghanistan crude, in poor taste and ignorant. There is a clear distinction between medieval warfare and war in 2007. That which is done in war 1,500 years ago cannot be acceptable today. Apart from what is obvious in the Geneva Convention, you don't kill hostages in 2007 in the name of a religious war. There is no place in modern Malaysia for glorifying the killing of hostages in any war.
The extreme views like that of the writer must be challenged and nibbed in the bud. Nobody is blaming all Muslims for Islamophobia but a very small minority holding medieval extreme views and trying to justify killing of people of another religion in a plural democratic society like Malaysia is the crux of the problem.
Bobby: Don't worry, mate. The time will come soon, hopefully under existing UN Secretary-General Mr Kim, for the end of all religions, the force behind all the senseless killings. Intelligent humans have been fooled for so long now. And it's time to wake up to Reality.
