Downtrodden: If what the prime minister said is true ie, 'Be it a 'surau', 'masjid', temple or church, when there is a need for it, the government gives the necessary aid', why is there then such a painfully disproportionate treatment by the authorities in the building of these places of worship for the different religions?
It is stupefying when one finds it extremely prohibitive (in terms of allocation of land or government financial assistance) to build churches or temples in the numbers as one can as with mosques in this country. What a perfunctory declaration for freedom of religion!
K Balaguru: Umno ministers, whether the prime minister or the deputy prime minister or anyone for that matter can make any amount of proclamation on an Islamic state, but fact remains that those proclamations are not the law.
On Make Raja Nazrin your adviser, PM told
KSN: It is not the first time His Royal Highness Raja Nazrin has delivered pearls of wisdom to the people - in particular to those in power - about corruption, abuse of power and a subservient judiciary.
His Highness must be deeply worried by the direction Malaysia is being taken by the BN government or precisely, Umno government. All right-thinking Malaysians are in the same mode as Raja Nazrin is in but can only look on helplessly while praying for a drastic change to reason and sanity away from racialism and religious fanaticism.
The sad part is that there seems to be no change is on the horizon. But thank you for your voice of wisdom, Raja Nazrin. It is to be hoped, come the elections, the people will wake up.
Regardless of the government's lack of response, it is to be hoped that Raja Nazrin and others like him will continue to speak up for the sake of our country.
On DBKL's new twist to bumi housing discount
Weng Hooi: Why are we meekly accepting this 'Make my own law and policy' in the guise of implementing the New Economic Policy (NEP)? There is no enabling provision in law for DBKL to impose a condition for the bumi discounts in respect of unsold bumi lots to be paid into its coffers! The federal constitution clearly stipulates that the government is only empowered to collect taxes and other forms of levy from the public thru legislation.
DBKL has acted 'ultra vires' the constitution and the cabinet must act at once to stop this illegal practice. The public cannot suffer in silence when 'little Napoleons' formulate their own law and policy. For the moment, DBKL must make it clear how such funds are collected, and how the funds will be utilised. Every sen must be accounted for.

Alphonsus: I think the government should make it compulsory for all our ministers and senators to travel on public transportation everyday, and hopefully they will also call for the sacking of CEOs of these companies when they are caught in the situation most Malaysian have to endure everyday (waiting almost an hour for a bus, poor conditions of buses, overcrowding, train breakdowns, being overcharged by our taxi drivers etc).
