Senator apologises for illegally parking car on sidewalk

Amanah Youth chief Hasbie Muda has apologised for parking his vehicle on a sidewalk in the city centre, following a furore on social media over the matter.

"As the owner of the vehicle, I regretfully apologise for what has happened and take full responsibility.

"I regret the inconvenience (the act) has caused, and am willing to be compounded (for the offence).

“I promise this will not recur," the senator posted on X.

He was responding to a post by an X user which showed a Proton X90 bearing the Parliament emblem, parked on a pedestrian walkway in Kuala Lumpur.

The netizen asked why a parliamentarian, who earns a good salary, and even a parking allowance, did not park in a paid car park.

Netizens also chipped in, with some suggesting passersby puncture or scratch the car to teach the vehicle owner a lesson and that Hasbie stop receiving a parking allowance if he wants to act this way.
