McDonald’s Malaysia has been honoured with the Community Engagement and Upliftment Award in the Quick Service Restaurant category at the ninth edition of the Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2024.

The award ceremony, officiated by Deputy Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Noraini Ahmad, recognised outstanding Malaysian corporations for their exemplary efforts in environmental, social, and governance and corporate social responsibility.

“This accolade marks the sixth consecutive year McDonald’s Malaysia has received recognition from CSR Awards Malaysia, highlighting its steadfast commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.

“The company continues to emphasise its role as a deeply rooted local operation dedicated to serving the Malaysian community,” McDonald’s Malaysia said in a statement.

It said as McDonald’s Malaysia celebrates over 42 years of serving the nation, the company remains committed to its mission of feeding and fostering the community.

Long-standing dedication

Notable initiatives by McDonald’s Malaysia include the Inspirational Teacher’s Award, McDonald’s Community Month celebrations with orphanages, and various seasonal events and charitable contributions such as Chinese New Year festivities with senior citizens and “Misi Moreh Mekdi” during Ramadan.

These efforts reflect McDonald’s Malaysia’s long-standing dedication to community engagement and social responsibility.

Its managing director and local operating partner Azmir Jaafar expressed pride in the company’s achievements.

“Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) embody our commitment to feeding and fostering the communities we serve.

“McDonald’s Malaysia operates at a local level, and we are dedicated to giving back to Malaysians. This recognition for the sixth consecutive year reinforces our mission to support and uplift the communities around us.

“We are honoured to be serving the community and continuing to make a positive impact,” he added.

With over 23,000 Malaysians employed and 13.5 million customers served each month, McDonald’s Malaysia continues to uphold its role as a socially responsible corporate citizen, it said.

Through its Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s and RMHC, McDonald’s Malaysia pledges to persist in supporting diverse community groups, ensuring a sustained positive impact and leaving no one behind.
