Sarawak PKR launched its election committee for the next state election, which is due to be held by 2026.
According to the party's state information chief Tay Wei Wei, a Sarawak-level convention was held at Penview Hotel in Kuching last night.
"Over 400 participants from 31 Sarawak PKR divisions participated in the one-day convention.
"We have established the Sarawak State Election Committee, complete with office bearers and a lineup to oversee the various sub-committees that will handle tasks related to ground preparations," The Vibes quoted Tay as saying, adding that the committee includes members from both urban and rural districts.
Tay said the committee will also prepare for the next general election, which will feature contests for parliamentary seats in Sarawak.
War of words
Recently, the issue sparked a war of words among state-level politicians after Sarawak PKR strategic director Iswardy Morni said the state chapter was ready to challenge the ruling coalition, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, at the polls should it be given the green light.
He also said GPS was not part of Pakatan Harapan.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu vice-president Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah then said he saw ill intentions in Sarawak PKR’s insistence on fielding a candidate but believed PKR president Anwar Ibrahim does not share the same sentiment as the Sarawak PKR leadership.

Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Larry Sng, who has represented multiple parties over the years, then suggested that Sarawak Harapan parties stay out of the coming state election and join GPS.
Yesterday, Tay rebuffed Sng, saying he should focus on building up his own party.
"PBM only has one seat, one parliamentary seat.
"He should stop trying to gain publicity by mocking other parties," Tay said.
