NENGGIRI BY-ELECTION | Bersatu vice-president Mohd Radzi Md Jidin has mocked the government for making an announcement about ATMs ahead of the Nenggiri by-election in Kelantan.
“This has never happened before where the Finance Ministry makes an official statement about ATMs.
“Check the records, when has there been a time when the Finance Ministry made a statement about setting up ATMs?” Radzi (above) said during a speech last night.
The Bersatu leader also took a swipe at BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, who served as an aide to former Nenggiri assemblyperson Ab Aziz Yusoff.
“He was working with (the former) assemblyperson during the previous term. What were you doing then?
“Didn’t he realise that the people of Nenggiri needed an ATM? Did it only dawn upon him now when there is a by-election?” he asked.
On Saturday, the ministry said it has completed discussions with several local banks to provide ATM services in Nenggiri and the response has been positive.

It stated that it would continuously engage local banks to identify improvements, particularly to ensure expanded access to ATM services.
It added that individuals facing difficulties accessing ATMs in their areas can contact the ministry via email at ukk@treasury.gov.my or call 03-8000 8000.
On the same, Azmawi also vowed to resolve the ATM issue.

Previously, it was reported that villagers had to travel some 50km to Gua Musang to use the ATM. Some even are forced to take an hour-long train ride or a 30-minute boat trip.
Some villagers also complained that the nearest petrol station is located some 30km from their homes.
The Nenggiri by-election will be a straight fight between Azmawi and Perikatan Nasional’s Mohd Rizwadi Ismail.
"individuals facing difficulties accessing ATMs in their areas can contact the ministry via email at ukk@treasury.gov.my or call 03-8000 8000." Mohd Azmawi thumbs his chest proudly. When has anybody in his or her lifetime got any response to calls at this number or this email? For that matter what are the chances of getting through any number in any government office in Putrajaya? 0.000001% maybe. It doesn't matter who the government is. Government servants will be getting a pay hike up to 47.5% very soon but don't expect the efficiency of the government service to improve in this lifetime of the nation. Semua pandai keletong saja.
