Bersatu Youth trying to pin the blame on PKR mouthpiece Suara Keadilan over Muhyiddin Yassin's recent speech that irked the Pahang royalty was a desperate attempt to deflect from the real issue, said Fahmi Fadzil.

The communications minister said Suara Keadilan was not the only one who published the Perikatan Nasional chairperson's speech during the recent Nenggiri by-election as it was also on PAS’ TikTok channels.

"I see it as an attempt to deflect. When they are panicked, they try to blame others.

"I watched the former prime minister's speech on TikTok Live, and if I'm not mistaken, it was aired by one of the PAS TikTok channels, either Harakah Daily or via the PAS official account.

"So, if they want to blame anyone, they should blame their party organs that aired the speech live," Fahmi told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

The PKR information chief was commenting on the ongoing police probe against Muhyiddin, as well as Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal’s allegation that Suara Keadilan uploaded Muhyiddin's speech with malicious intent to tarnish his reputation.

Fahmi also sarcastically teased the opposition leaders, saying that their situation now is akin to the Malay proverb “Sudah jatuh ditimpa tangga”, which is equivalent to the English proverb "It never rains but it pours".

"Not only did they lose the Nenggiri seat, but now (Bersatu president) is being investigated by police (for his remarks)," he quipped.

Fahmi was referring to the Nenggiri by-election result, which saw BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani snapping the Kelantan state seat from Bersatu after defeating the latter's candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail.

During his speech at Felda Perasu in Kelantan last week, Muhyiddin claimed he had enough backing from MPs to form a government but was thwarted by the 16th Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Ex-PM Muhyiddin Yassin

The former prime minister’s remarks had irked the Pahang palace, with Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah accusing Muhyiddin of manipulating facts and urging the police to take action against him.

Following this, Bersatu Youth lodged a police report against Suara Keadilan, blaming the portal for uploading the remarks which they claimed was done with malicious intent.

Sexual harassment case

Fahmi also commented on a former PKR lawmaker who is under probe for alleged sexual harassment involving a woman at a supermarket in Kota Damansara, Selangor.

He was asked whether the party and government will call the leader to seek his explanation and take action.

Fahmi replied that they are leaving the matter to authorities as police investigation is ongoing.

"When it comes to issues like sexual harassment, these are among the things that we would never tolerate. In this case, it is under police investigation and the party and government have yet to get detailed information.

"So we will leave it to the police to investigate (first)," he said.

Two days ago, Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Ja'afar was quoted as saying by Bernama that police received a report from the victim, a woman in her 20s, on Aug 6, claiming the man had sexually harassed her twice while at the supermarket.
