Bersatu Youth blames PKR for brouhaha over Muhyiddin's remarks

Bersatu Youth has lodged a police report against PKR mouthpiece Suara Keadilan for allegedly doctoring clips of former premier Muhyiddin Yassin’s speech which purportedly touched on race, religion and royalty (3R) issues.

Its chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claimed the clip the portal uploaded was done with malicious intent to tarnish the Perikatan Nasional chairperson’s reputation.

“The root cause of this tension (between Muhyiddin and the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong) is not us. It’s Suara Keadilan, a seditious portal that has slandered Muhyiddin and PN,” he told reporters outside the Dang Wangi district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

‘Merely stating facts’

Commenting on Muhyiddin’s remarks, Wan Fayhsal reiterated the Pagoh MP’s statement yesterday, saying he was merely stating facts that the PN chairperson had the support of 115 MPs to make him the country’s 10th prime minister.

The Bersatu Youth chief also claimed he was one of the 115 lawmakers who signed the statutory declaration (SD).

During his speech at Felda Perasu in Kelantan last week, Muhyiddin claimed he had enough backing from MPs to form a government but was thwarted by the 16th Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

“It’s not that I want to bring up the past, but it is recorded history.

“But I don’t know how… the Agong back then didn’t invite me to the palace to get sworn in. Who was the previous Agong? It’s (from) Pahang lah,” Muhyiddin was reported as saying, referring to Sultan Abdullah.

Wan Fayhsal claimed that an official from the Istana Negara had received the statutory declarations in support of Muhyiddin which the Bersatu president had mentioned in his speech.

“So, in his (Muhyiddin) ceramah that day, (he) was merely stating facts.

“No such thing about Muhyiddin touching, belittling or questioning the power vested by the Constitution to the Agong,” he added.

Police questioning postponed

The former prime minister’s remarks had irked the Pahang palace, with Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah accusing the former of manipulating facts and urging the police to take action on Muhyiddin.

The private secretary to the crown prince, Amir Syafiq Hamzah, also lodged a police report on the matter at the Kuantan police station on Sunday night.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain confirmed that the police received 29 reports, including from the Pahang palace.

Muhyiddin, who was to have his statement recorded today, will do it tomorrow at 11am instead.
