Investigation papers on Mkini journos to be sent to AGC this week

The investigation papers on the Malaysiakini report of an alleged Bukit Aman plot to reshuffle top-ranking officers will be handed over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) this week.

The Malay Mail quoted Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa as saying that the police are wrapping up their investigation.

“To date, four individuals, including three reporters, have been called up for questioning.

“The investigation papers will be handed over this week,” Rusdi (above) said at a press conference.

Earlier this month, Malaysiakini published a report quoting sources, who said several senior officers could be transferred out of the agency.

The three journalists who wrote it refused to give up their sources during over an hour of questioning.

Media freedom organisations such as Gerakan Media Merdeka and the National Union of Journalists Malaysia criticised the government over the investigation, stating that they oppose any effort that may threaten the right of journalists to protect the confidentiality of anonymous sources.
