Sinkhole appears on Jalan Masjid India, 'swallows' Indian national

An Indian national has fallen into an eight-metre-deep sinkhole, which suddenly opened up at Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur.

The incident involving the 48-year-old woman happened in front of the Malayan Mansion building and the Fire and Rescue Services Department was alerted about 8.30am.

According to operations commander Senior Assistant Fire Chief Mohamad Riduan Akhyar, the Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (Storm) and K9 unit are at the location for a search and rescue operation.

“We will update the developments from time to time,” he said in a statement.

The operation involves officers and personnel from the Titiwangsa Fire Station, assisted by those from the Hang Tuah station, as well as other first responders.
