‘I bring it everywhere,’ ex-PKR MP admits carrying pistol during presser

Former PKR MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid has admitted to carrying a firearm while attending a recent press conference at Cheras Stadium on Tuesday.

Taking to X, Abdullah, who is acting president of the Kuala Lumpur Football Association, responded to a three-second video that questioned his need to carry a firearm in public. 

“As a licensed firearm carrier since 2012 and the owner of a firearm, the weapon cannot be left anywhere and must always be in my care.

“So not only to the stadium, but I bring it wherever I go,” he said.

Based on the video, Sani was wearing a blazer that could conceal his weapon but the pistol strapped to his waist was exposed when he stood up after the press conference. 

According to guidelines by the National Security Council, individuals licensed to carry a firearm are required to store and handle it safely, as well as report any changes to relevant authorities.

Sani served as Kuala Langat MP for two terms from 2008 to 2018, followed by one term as Kapar MP from 2018 to 2022.

He failed to defend the Kapar seat during the 15th general election, losing to PAS’ Dr Halimah Ali.
