Umno supreme council member Mohd Zarkashi has chided a Bersatu leader as “stupid” for lodging a police report against a recent BN visit to China on allegations of spreading communism.

The visit was to commemorate 50 years of Malaysia-China relations.

“This is the problem with those who join Bersatu. They forget that Bersatu is also a political school.

“They are indoctrinated to become ‘stupid’,” Puad said in a statement posted on Facebook.

Puad argued that the visit included valuable discussions on modernisation and leadership training, not ideological indoctrination.

“In China, there are thousands of political schools. We are not learning communist ideology,” he said, stressing that the trip is focusing on practical governance techniques.

Blatant hypocrisy

He specifically called out former Johor menteri besar Sahruddin Jamal for making serious allegations against him.

Puad also highlighted that similar visits by leaders like former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin - who is Bersatu president - to China did not lead to such claims, which implied hypocrisy in their accusation against Umno.

Earlier today, Sahruddin lodged a report against Puad over a study trip to China.

The Johor Bersatu chairperson said that his party is worried that this could spread communism among Umno members and the Johor state assembly, where Puad is the speaker.

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh chimed in and said Sahruddin should find better issues concerning the people to talk about if he wanted to be more relevant.

“I bet even the police taking this report must be laughing. It’s embarrassing!” Akmal said.
