Repeat claims outside House so I can sue, Siti Kasim dares PAS MP

Lawyer Siti Kasim has dared a PAS lawmaker to repeat his claim that she insulted Islam on several issues outside of Parliament. 

Taking to Instagram, Siti (above) said she would drag Jerlun MP Abd Ghani Ahmad to court if he did have the courage to do so.

"Right now, you're speaking in Parliament, and you’re brave because you know I can’t sue you. That’s the problem - you’re a coward. You’ve got no guts.

"When and where have I ever insulted Islam? Show me. I’ve sued someone before and won because there is no evidence that I have insulted Islam," she said.

In the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday, Abd Ghani reportedly questioned the government’s plan to curb “liberal” Muslims like Siti, whom he accused of openly insulting Islam.

He was also quoted as accusing liberal Muslims of rejecting the views of muftis and religious scholars on various issues, claiming they labelled them as outdated and close-minded.

In response, Siti questioned whether Abd Ghani even understood the concept of liberalism, pointing out that it is not a religion but a political and moral philosophy.

“Do you even know this? Liberalism is a philosophy based on individual rights: freedom, the consent of the governed, political equality, private property, and equality before the law. That’s what being liberal truly means.

“Do you understand that? If not, then don’t speak. You should probably go back to school and learn the Quran first, so you can respect other religions and those with differing opinions,” she added.

Siti also suggested that MPs attend classes on the Federal Constitution and pointed out that the word “liberal” is enshrined in the Rukun Negara.

“If you can’t respect other people, fine. But don’t use your position in Parliament to criticise liberals or anyone who doesn’t share your views.

“Be a true Muslim. If you can’t, then just keep quiet and shut up,” she concluded.
