Court decision ordering Najib to enter defence welcomed - Bersih

The High Court ruling today that Najib Abdul Razak needs to enter his defence for all charges on the 1MDB case has been welcomed.

Among those praising the outcome today was Bersih, who lauded the prosecution for establishing a prima facie case against the former premier.

“Even though the legal process is not complete, this indirectly proves yet again that there is a criminal case involving 1MDB funds,” the group said in a statement today.

It also called on the government to ensure that Najib serves out his remaining prison sentence on the SRC International case behind bars.

There was keen interest in today’s court ruling, which came amid concerns that the government was allegedly paving the way for Najib to be placed under house arrest.
