PARLIAMENT | Cabinet minister Tiong King Sing (GPS-Bintulu) challenged opposition MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) this evening to take their fight outside of the Dewan Rakyat.

This happened in the heat of the moment when the Bersatu leader mocked Tiong for mistakenly re-reading a part of his speech, which the tourism, arts and culture minister blamed on Mas Ermieyati for interjecting him moments earlier.

"Baru kacau sikit dah macam ni, apalah," Mas Ermieyati said in Bahasa Malaysia, which loosely translates to: “I only teased you a little bit, but you are already like this.”

To this, Tiong stopped reading his speech text and asked the Public Accounts Committee chairperson: "Do you want to fight?"

Several other MPs then laughed at the remarks despite Tiong looking like he was not having any of it before Mas Ermieyati accepted his challenge.

Mas Ermieyati: "Boleh (sure)."

Tiong: "Kalau mau gaduh luar sana lah nanti (if you want to fight, then we bring it outside).”

The minister then continued reading his speech text.

Prior to the verbal exchange, Mas Ermieyati had stood up during Tiong's speech to ask for further details on several government grants that the minister had mentioned.

However, Tiong refused to allow the opposition representative to take his time and told Mas Ermieyati that he would answer her queries via written reply later.

This led to a verbal altercation between the two, which Tiong blamed for disrupting his speech.
