DAP rep: Hyundai's investment counters Kedah MB's claims

Hyundai Motor’s RM2.16 billion investment in Kulim serves as evidence that there is no agenda to obstruct private investment in Kedah, said state opposition assemblyperson Teh Swee Leong.

The Kota Darul Aman assemblyperson from DAP added that the investment refutes recent claims by Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who alleged there was a deliberate plot to undermine private investment in the state.

“Hence, such allegations do not hold water. If there is indeed evidence of sabotage, the menteri besar should present it to the public instead of keeping it to himself,” he told reporters today.

Kedah opposition leader and Sidam assemblyperson Bau Wong Bau Ek, who is from PKR, echoed similar sentiments, urging Sanusi to substantiate his claims.

“If the claims are true, he must disclose them, along with the supporting evidence,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bakar Arang assemblyperson Adam Loh Wei Chai, also from PKR, highlighted that several investments, particularly in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, have been successfully secured in Kedah, effectively refuting Sanusi’s claims.

During the oral question-and-answer session at the Kedah state legislative assembly on Monday, Sanusi alleged the existence of a “big agenda” aimed at derailing planned development projects in the state.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim asserted that the government has never sidelined Kedah in terms of investments, emphasising its role in encouraging and supporting Hyundai Motor’s investment in Kulim.
