Only 2 opposition reps attend Sabah poverty eradication engagement

Only two members of the Sabah state assembly and three more state constituency representatives attended Phase 2.0 of the Hardcore Poverty Data Refinement Engagement Session with assemblypersons in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.

In a statement, the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat, under the Chief Minister’s Department, confirmed that Tungku and Bongawan assemblypersons Assaffal P Alian and Daud Yusof, both from Warisan attended the special engagement session for opposition elected representatives.

Representatives were also sent from the Sungai Manila, Sukau, and Darau state constituencies.

“The session, led by Rosmadi Sulai, chief coordination officer of the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat, presented an introduction to the Sabah Hardcore Poverty Eradication programme,” the statement read.

Its aim is to gather input and suggestions from the assemblypersons on expanding the list of heads of household and household members missing from the e-Kasih System, so they can be added to the State Poverty Data System.

This initiative follows an instruction from Chief Minister Hajiji Noor during the recent state assembly sitting where he stressed that efforts to eradicate hardcore poverty should transcend religion, race, or political ideology.
