Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar posted a cryptic message today following his resignation as Perikatan Nasional treasurer-general.
The message came in the form of a quote by American basketball legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
“I try to do the right thing at the right time. They may just be little things, but usually they make the difference between winning and losing,” Samsuri posted on Facebook, together with a photo of himself.
Yesterday, Samsuri, who is also a PAS vice-president, announced his resignation as PN treasurer-general through a brief statement to PAS central leadership.
In the statement, the Kemaman MP said he had submitted his resignation letter to PN’s leadership.
The resignation came just two days after PN’s supreme council met to confirm six key party appointments, including secretary-general, women’s chief, information chief, and supreme council members.

The meeting saw Bersatu retaining all six major positions in PN, despite PAS requesting that the secretary-general post be given to Takiyuddin Hassan, who is also PAS secretary-general.
‘Wait for the right time’
The reshuffle reflected the new leadership positions within Bersatu following the recent party election.
Earlier at an event in Kuantan today, Samsuri said he was not ready to elaborate when pressed by the media.
“I already know the question you want to ask... but for now, today, I don’t want to make any statement yet.
“Wait for the right time, and I will make a statement then,” he said before leaving the event.
PM candidate dispute
Samsuri’s resignation comes amid an ongoing debate within PN over the coalition’s prime ministerial candidate for the next general election.
While PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Bersatu president, has been regarded as the coalition’s “poster boy”, PAS has expressed its desire to propose its own candidate.

Muhyiddin has stated that such decisions are ultimately made collectively by the coalition's component party leaders.
“Matters such as that will be discussed, and later decisions are made by party leaders, not by me,” he said.
On Nov 22, PAS spiritual adviser Hashim Jasin denied reports claiming that the party had officially endorsed Muhyiddin as PN’s prime ministerial candidate.
Samsuri, an aerospace engineer by training, has often been touted as a potential prime ministerial candidate.
