The Star frontpaged a report on the arrest of a senior Syariah court official in Perak for alleged corruption, the second case in the state in three weeks.

The New Straits Times reported that the police have sought assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in the US to give technical assistance on the Nurin Jazlin Jazimin murder.

The Sun reported on the submission by PKR vice-president R Sivarasah of a copy of the Lingam tape video clip to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) headquarters in Putrajaya.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia reported on the order by the Kuala Lumpur High Court for the retrieval of RM35 million held by defendants in the case of an international online investment scheme SwissCash. Swiss Cash has been described by the Securities Commission as a scam.

It also led with the announcement by Education Minister Hishammuddin Hussein that primary school pupils need not re-sit their UPSR exams as investigations have found that no leaks had occurred as previously claimed.

Berita Harian reported on the police's request to the FBI for technical assistance in the Nurin murder case. It also reported on the bus accident in Johor that saw two people killed and nine injured.

Chinese newspapers

Nanyang Siang Pau continued to highlight the harsh crackdown by the military junta in Burma on anti-government protesters.

Oriental Daily frontpaged the emergency meeting of Unico Holdings Bhd's board of directors to resolve the controversy raised by one of the directors. Unico is a holding company established in the 1970s by Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) to collect resources from the Chinese business community to embark on bigger enterprises.

Sin Chew Daily frontpaged the bus accident in Johor. Two passengers died after the bus plunged into the sea at the Stulang Laut beach near Jalan Ibrahim Sultan. Nine more people, including the bus driver, were injured in the 8am accident yesterday

Editorials

Berita Harian opined that Southeast Asia's regional bloc Asean would be more effective in handling the crisis in Burma than external powers.

New Straits Times , while lauding the proposal for schools to have only one session daily for students, noted there were other issues that had to be ironed out first, such as the lack of space and infrastructure to accommodate the large number of students, the provision of food, etc.
