MCA to attend Najib solidarity rally on Monday

MCA will participate in the “Solidarity Rally for Najib”, which will take place at the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya on Monday (Jan 6).

In a statement today, the MCA Publicity Bureau confirmed that the party received Umno’s invitation to the rally two weeks ago.

MCA also called on leaders and members at all levels to join the peaceful rally to uphold judicial fairness and express support for former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The party reiterated its stance on the royal addendum issue, which allegedly permits Najib to serve the rest of his jail sentence under house arrest.

“During the BN 50th Anniversary Celebration on Dec 7, 2024, MCA president Wee Ka Siong publicly reaffirmed the party’s position: court rulings must be respected.

“He also urged the government to transparently and clearly clarify the existence of the said royal addendum - either confirm it or deny it.”

MCA emphasised that the government must provide a forthright response, particularly given the matter’s relevance to the Rukun Negara principles of “Loyalty to King and Country, Supremacy of the Constitution, and the Rule of Law.”

Umno is organising the rally on Jan 6, coinciding with a hearing regarding the alleged royal addendum.

Subsequently, PAS’ leadership has urged its members to attend the rally as well.

Following some controversy surrounding the rally, several Umno leaders clarified it is not a political event and that the party had never communicated with PAS regarding the matter.

Separately, Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) national information chief M Suthan said his party will also be at the Najib rally.

In a video on TikTok, Suthan said his party believes in justice.

He questioned the government’s silence on the alleged royal addendum and accused it of attempting to hide something.
