Bersatu Youth exco member quits bureau, cites impasse with Hilman

Bersatu Youth executive councillor member Meor Naqiuddin Shamsudin has resigned as the chief of the party's professional and volunteer bureau, effective Jan 5.

However, Meor (above) told Malaysiakini that he remains in other roles within the youth wing.

“I have resigned as the chief of Bersatu Youth’s professional and volunteer bureau but will stay on as a Youth exco member without a portfolio due to some disagreement with (Bersatu Youth Chief) Hilman Idham,” he said.

Meor declined to comment further on the matter but said an official statement would be released soon.

He was appointed to the position during Bersatu Youth’s annual general assembly on Nov 29 last year.

Hilman, who is also the Gombak Setia assemblyperson, was named the Bersatu Youth chief for the 2024-2027 term.

His victory came after securing 1,888 votes - surpassing his rival Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir, who garnered 1,718 votes.

Malaysiakini is seeking a response from Hilman regarding this development.
