Summary
DAP Youth chief Woo Kah Leong hits out at PAS leaders for lying and defaming the DAP.
He cites previous incidents resulting in a PAS leader losing a defamation case and another having to apologise.
A war of words between PAS and DAP is escalating following Najib Abdul Razak’s bid to commence a judicial review over the royal addendum on his house arrest.
The controversy surrounding the royal addendum concerning former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak has escalated into a war of words between PAS and DAP.
In a statement today, DAP Youth chief Woo Kah Leong hit out at PAS leaders Abdul Hadi Awang and Takiyuddin Hassan for purportedly lying and defaming the DAP.
This follows Takiyuddin’s statement yesterday denying that Hadi had linked DAP to “treason” and betraying the concept of a constitutional monarchy.
Woo, who is also a Perak state executive council member, said Takiyuddin’s denial reflects PAS’ “habitual dishonesty”, describing the Islamist party as a “cancer” in Malaysian politics.

“PAS has become a cancer in Malaysia’s democratic system. They thrive on lies and hatred, undermining diversity, and poisoning the minds of the younger generation. We must reject extremism to protect our future.”
Woo added that Hadi’s statement on Jan 7 was clearly aimed at DAP and filled with baseless accusations.
“Yet, Takiyuddin shamelessly denied it,” said the Pasir Bedamar state assemblyperson.
PAS leaders’ past ‘lies’
Woo cited previous incidents involving PAS leaders to highlight their lies.
This includes Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad’s claim that three DAP leaders were linked to the late leader of the Communist Party of Malaya, Chin Peng.
She lost a defamation case over the issue and was ordered to pay RM825,000 to the three DAP leaders.

Another example was Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria who had to apologise after falsely linking Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming to an incident in Teluk Intan where China’s national flag was flown during a procession.
Woo also referenced Hadi’s previous alleged racist remarks blaming non-bumiputera for corruption, as well as Takiyuddin being reprimanded by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah for misleading Parliament on the annulment of emergency ordinances in 2021.
“How can PAS accuse others of challenging the constitutional monarchy when they are the real threat to Malaysia’s democratic and constitutional systems?” Woo asked.
Two days ago, Hadi described the government as being “DAP-dominated” and accused it of committing treason by supposedly betraying the concept of constitutional monarchy.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke had rebutted Hadi’s remarks, asserting that DAP was not involved in the royal pardon process or the royal addendum. He also denounced Hadi for frequently blaming DAP for various issues, calling such accusations irresponsible and malicious.
Yesterday, Takiyuddin defended Hadi, dismissing Loke’s accusations as immature and hasty.
