'Everything is DAP's fault': Loke slams Hadi as malicious, power-hungry

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has strongly criticised PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for attempting to link the party to the controversy surrounding the royal addendum in Najib Abdul Razak’s case.

In a statement, Loke denounced Hadi’s repeated political strategy of blaming DAP for every issue under the slogan “Everything is DAP’s fault”, labelling it irresponsible and malicious.

“I want to emphasise that DAP leaders, especially those in the cabinet, are not involved in the addendum issue.

“Matters related to pardons fall under the jurisdiction of the Pardons Board, which does not involve the cabinet. There is no DAP representative in the Pardons Board,” said Loke.

He further clarified that the Pardons Board operates under the advice of the attorney-general to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, reiterating that DAP plays no role in such matters.

Loke then accused PAS of employing divisive and underhanded political tactics to destabilise Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration and undermine the federal coalition government.  

“PAS leaders are power-hungry and desperate, resorting to any means to achieve their political ambitions of taking over Putrajaya,” he said.

Urging Malaysians to prioritise political stability, Loke called on the public to reject PAS’ “cheap and disgraceful politics” aimed at creating division and unrest.  

He reaffirmed DAP’s unwavering support for the Anwar-led government and expressed confidence in the sincerity of coalition partners in resisting PAS’ attempts to disrupt national stability.  

‘Treason’

Hadi today weighed in on the royal addendum controversy, with DAP once again emerging as his primary target.

The PAS president referred to the Court of Appeal’s decision allowing Najib’s appeal to initiate a judicial review compelling the home minister and government to enforce an alleged decree by the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which could allow the former premier to serve his prison sentence under house arrest.

He accused the “DAP-dominated” government of committing “treason” (derhaka) and betraying the concept of a constitutional monarchy.  

“This has exposed the true nature of the Pakatan Harapan government, dominated by DAP, which upholds the principles of secularism embedded in the party’s constitution and the statements of its leaders.  

“What is happening now is a continuation of the colonial-era approach,” he added in a statement.
