T'ganu MB hosts Chinese envoy, receives donation for flood victims

Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar received a courtesy visit yesterday from Chinese Ambassador Ouyang Yujing and his delegation.

The meeting, held in Terengganu, focused on strengthening ties and exploring new opportunities in areas such as the economy, investments, education, and tourism.

In a Facebook statement, Samsuri expressed his gratitude for China’s solidarity with the people of Terengganu, especially through a generous donation of essential goods worth RM50,000 to aid 500 flood victims in Kampung Pulau Rusa.

“We extend our heartfelt appreciation for their concern and support. May this meeting mark the beginning of a strong partnership that brings meaningful benefits to the people of Terengganu, Insya Allah,” said the menteri besar.

According to Harakahdaily, the Chinese Embassy, through Yayasan Ikram Malaysia, donated essential supplies worth RM50,000 to 500 residents affected by floods in the district.

The items provided included mattresses, pillows, blankets, and towels.

According to Ouyang (above, right), the Chinese Embassy has collaborated with government departments and public organisations in Malaysia on charitable activities over the past few years.

He also noted that Islamic NGOs have long been important partners of the embassy, frequently working together on various initiatives.

Terengganu ruler Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin earlier today welcomed Ouyang and his delegation, with Samsuri also in attendance.
