Fahmi v Musa: Native Court to seek compensation from artist

The Native Court of Keningau will be issuing a summons against graphic artist Fahmi Reza to demand compensation for his caricature depicting Sabah Governor Musa Aman as the state's most corrupt individual.

The court deemed the caricatures as a serious insult to Musa and the people of Sabah, particularly the Kadazan, Dusun, Murut community.

Musa's mother was a Dusun from Keningau.

Bingkor district chief Daniel Palangi was cited as saying by the Borneo Post last night that the decision was made unanimously during a special meeting between district leaders and village chiefs.

The summons aimed to demand sogit (customary compensation) from Fahmi for not only tarnishing Musa's image but also insulting the dignity of Sabahans.

Fahmi had been taking jabs at Musa through the "Koruptor No 1 Sabah" caricature since the latter was appointed as the state governor last December.

This included a visit to Kota Kinabalu where Fahmi pasted the caricature on a wall, which was promptly removed.

On Dec 30, he was arrested over the caricatures and probed under the Sedition Act.
