  • Another victim who was earlier hospitalised also tests positive for drugs.

  • Police decline to reveal the type of drugs pending full autopsy reports and investigation.

The four men and women who died hours after they attended the Pinkfish New Year countdown concert in Sunway Lagoon, Subang Jaya three weeks ago had drugs in their system, say police.

In a statement this morning, Subang Jaya district police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the Chemistry Department’s blood analyses confirmed this.

“We have received a report from the Chemistry Department, which found drugs in the blood (samples) taken from the victims.

“The results have been referred to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a full report,” he said, adding that another concert-goer who was earlier hospitalised had also tested positive for drugs.

Wan Azlan however declined to reveal the type of drugs involved, saying the case is still under investigation and pending full autopsy reports.

He added that investigators have so far recorded statements from 52 witnesses including friends of the deceased victims and workers who were on duty at the concert.

Earlier this month, it was reported that two men and two women aged between 20 and 40 had died after they attended the Pinkfish concert.

Three other concert-goers were also hospitalised, including two who had to receive intensive care treatment, in a case that police suspect was connected to drug abuse.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan reportedly said they suspected the victims had taken ecstasy pills that they acquired at the concert venue. Police were probing how the drugs could be brought into the event.
