The Sun and Star led with the court victory of ex-ISA detainee Abdul Malek Hussin who won RM2.5 million in damages for his unlawful detention and assault by the police in 1998.

The Star also reported that stolen mobiles phone will be disabled even with new SIM cards as a move to curb mobile phone theft.

The New Straits Times headlined that the Palestinian stowaway who flew from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Changi airport in Singapore was back in the country for questioning.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian both highlighted that former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto returned to her home country after nine years of exile.

Utusan also reported that the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) has contribution amounting to RM224 billion in December 2006 but the average savings of a pensioner was only RM114,000.

Berita Harian wrote that the Palestinian stowaway was handed over to the Kuala Lumpur authorities and that arrest warrants have been issued by the Road Transport Department for 21,000 errant drivers.

Sin Chew Daily, Nanyang Siang Pau and Oriental Daily News also frontpaged the court victory of ex-ISA detainee Abdul Malek Hussin.

Oriental Daily News also reported that Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Nazri Aziz as saying that he had not received any notice that the embattled Chief Justice Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim will get a two month extension.

Tamil newspapers
