Summary
Amanah MP Azli Yusof criticises Selangor PAS’ call for its supporters who live in Selangor to update their voting addresses.
He says the “desperate” appeal shows that PAS lacks support in Selangor.
A government lawmaker has slammed PAS’ appeal for those who live in Selangor but vote elsewhere to change their voting address as a “desperate” move.
Shah Alam MP Azli Yusof, who is also the Selangor Pakatan Harapan vice-chairperson, said the call clearly shows that PAS lacks support in the state.
“The reality is that voters are becoming more intelligent and starting to realise the mistake they made in voting for Perikatan Nasional in the previous state election,” he said in a statement today.
“The record of PN’s administration in the states they control has raised many questions and disappointments among the people as (the coalition) has not brought much change.
“In fact, they have relied heavily on support and aid from the federal government,” Azli (above) added.
On March 13, Selangor PAS chief Ab Halim Tamuri expressed hope that PAS supporters residing in Selangor would register to vote there in the upcoming general election.
The Paya Jeras assemblyperson said the call was especially for Selangor residents who were originally from PAS-governed states such as Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah.
He added that if that was done, it would be possible for PN to win control of the Selangor government.

Commenting on the matter, Azli, who is also the Selangor Amanah deputy chairperson, urged the Election Commission to monitor any suspicious efforts to change voter addresses.
Such enforcement, he said, is necessary to ensure the electoral process remains transparent while maintaining its integrity.
“Voters are also advised to stick to clean democracy principles by registering (to vote) at their actual residence, instead of (giving in to) political pressure from certain parties,” he added.
Previously, Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Deputy Minister R Ramanan also criticised PAS’ call, describing it as unreasonable.
The PKR MP said PAS should focus on serving areas they have already won instead of seeking voters from other states to influence the election results in Selangor.
