The New Straits Times , Star and The Sun reported cosmonaut Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor's safe return Earth on Sunday.

The Sun also wrote that Barisan Nasional will be considering People Progressive Party's (PPP) request for more seats in the coming general election.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian both headlined Sheikh Muszaphar's return to earth after 11 days in space.

Utusan Malaysia additionally reported that Russia has made an offer to Malaysia to send a second person into space in 2010 or early 2011.

Berita Harian wrote that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi wants component parties to not use pressure when making demands from the coalition to ensure stability within the coalition.

Tamil newspapers

Malaysia Nanban led with an assurance from Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that the Bn would consider a request by PPP for more seats.

In its front page Tamil Nesan reported that an entire division on PPP from Gemas has ditched the party to join MIC.

Makkal Osai reported a source story that the MIC Youth wing wants the party to sack party leaders and members who have close ties with the daily. Makkal Osai is closely associated with former MIC deputy president S Subramaniam.

All three dailies also reported prominently the safe return of astronaut Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor from space.

The New Straits Times viewed that the differing roles between the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Marine Department further erodes public confidence in the system in light of the recent Seagull Express ferry tragedy.
