  • Harapan Youth dares PN to name their candidates for PM and Perak MB.

  • Its chief Woo Kah Leong mocks the opposition coalition's purported unclear leadership planning.

  • Harapan Youth to give full backing to BN candidate contesting in Ayer Kuning by-election.

Pakatan Harapan Youth has challenged Perikatan Nasional to name their prime minister and Perak menteri besar candidates ahead of the Ayer Kuning by-election.

In a statement, the movement chief Woo Kah Leong said it is paramount for the opposition coalition to do so if they are serious about taking over the federal and state administrations.

"Unlike PN, which is still unclear about their leadership (plan), the Perak unity government has a line-up of responsible leaders under the leadership of (Menteri Besar) Saarani Mohamad, who has been managing the state administration without any corruption scandal.

"He has proven his commitment towards our youth by appointing young leaders into his administration, including myself as the youngest exco member in the state's history.

"This shows that the unity government is not only stable but also gives the opportunity to the younger generation to take part in developing the state," Woo added.

Vote unity govt for stability

The Pasir Bedamar assemblyperson urged Ayer Kuning voters to support the unity government candidate to ensure political stability in Perak.

Having political stability, he stressed, is crucial towards ensuring a smooth administration and economic development.

Woo said Harapan Youth has reached a consensus that they will give full support to any candidate proposed by BN and Umno.

The Ayer Kuning state seat in Perak fell vacant following the passing of its incumbent Ishsam Shahruddin on Feb 22.

The Umno candidate defeated four others to win the state seat by 2,213 votes in the 2022 general election.

The constituency will go to the polls on April 26.
