Indecent doctored images of students and alumni from Foon Yew High School in Kulai, Johor have reportedly been spread online.

According to media reports, a female student claimed on social media that a male classmate had used photo editing technology to create indecent images of her and shared them in a chat group for profit.

Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching’s special assistant Yong Hui Yi said over the past few days, she had accompanied several victims to lodge police reports.

One of the victims, reportedly a school alumnus, is scheduled to hold a press conference on April 12 (Saturday) to share her account of the incident.

School also investigating

In a Facebook statement released yesterday evening, Foon Yew High School confirmed that it had recently received reports of anonymous individuals spreading the edited indecent images, causing harm to the victims.

"The victims have lodged a police report. Upon receiving the complaint, the school immediately launched an internal investigation mechanism and is fully cooperating with the police investigation,” it said.

Foon Yew High School emphasised that as an educational institution, it has always upheld a strict stance against behaviour that violates morals and decency on campus, and does not tolerate anyone who misuses technology and the internet.

"Anyone found to be involved in such behaviour will not be let off and will be dealt with strictly according to school regulations.

"Since the police investigation is ongoing, and to protect the safety and privacy of the victims, the public is urged to stop sharing or discussing unverified information and statements to avoid causing secondary harm to the victims," it added.

The school also called on parents to work closely with them, pay more attention to their children’s behaviour on social media, and provide timely care and guidance, encouraging them to use online resources responsibly and instil proper values.
