Former Indah Water CEO replaces Charles as Span chairperson

Former Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Abdul Kadir Din has replaced ex-lawmaker Charles Santiago as the National Water Services Commission (Span) chairperson. 

In a Facebook post today congratulating Kadir on his new role, Span said the appointment came into effect yesterday. 

The commission, however, did not disclose other details on the matter. 

Kadir is also the managing director of waste management services provider Sacra Sol Sdn Bhd, a former president of the Malaysian Water Association and Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd’s former chief operations officer.

He is reportedly also an adviser for Ranhill Holdings Bhd, the parent company of Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd, the exclusive water operator for Johor, which manages, among others, the treatment and distribution of the water supply network within the state. 

Charles, a former three-term DAP MP for Klang, held the Span chairperson post from November 2018 to October 2022 and again from March 2023 until his recent removal.
