Remind kids to register for national service, deputy minister urges parents

Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari called on parents to remind their children to promptly register for the National Service Training Programme 3.0 Series 2/2025.

“Our target is to have around 550 trainees for this intake, with 350 males and 200 females. But as of yesterday, only 206 male and 138 female trainees have registered.

“I urge not just the trainees, but their families as well, to take responsibility in ensuring the success of this programme,” he said during a welfare visit and engagement with armed forces veterans under the Peduli Veteran Madani programme at Kampung Bapong, Pahang, earlier today.

Commenting further, Adly said selected trainees who have yet to report for duty still have the opportunity to do so at their assigned camps until May 16.

“We urge those who have been selected to complete their registration, as this initiative plays an important role in equipping the younger generation with essential training.

“National service is crucial in building character and instilling a sense of duty and responsibility towards the nation,” he emphasised.

Adly added that while some individuals have volunteered to join the programme, priority is given to those already selected before any replacements are considered.
