N Sembilan anti-drugs agency chief faces the music over nightclub day raid

The Negeri Sembilan National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada) director has been subject to disciplinary action after allegedly authorising a daytime raid on a nightclub, despite the original complaint referring to criminal activities taking place at night.

In a statement issued today, the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) said its investigation found that the state director had failed to provide proper instructions to enforcement officers and proceeded without obtaining the necessary approvals.

"The EAIC received a complaint against Nada’s state director for Negeri Sembilan, who is alleged to have issued an order to carry out a raid operation on a nightclub during the day, when the complaint received from the complainant was on criminal activities occurring at night.

"The raid on the nightclub is also said to have been carried out without obtaining special permission and approval from the enforcement director of the Enforcement and Security Division at Nada's headquarters.

"The investigation found that the state director had failed to provide clear instructions to Nada officers and had disobeyed orders by not obtaining the special permission and approval of the enforcement director, as stipulated in the Guidelines for the Implementation of Enforcement Operations: Operations at Entertainment Venues," EAIC said.

The commission added that it has referred the matter to Nada’s disciplinary authority for further action against the unnamed director.
