MIC president S Samy Vellu will be writing a "private letter" to deputy BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak on the squabble between his party and the People's Progressive Party led by M Kayveas.

He said this when asked to comment on the advice by Najib, reported in the papers today, for the month-long war of words between MIC and PPP to end.

"On that, I will write him a private letter. I will write Datuk Seri Najib," Samy Vellu told reporters after officiating a conference on infrastructure development and financing in Bandar Utama today.

He declined during the press conference to speak on the matter further.

The verbal war between MIC and PPP was sparked more than a month ago after Kayveas said MIC leaders had done little for the Indian community.

Last Friday, it was reported that MIC's central working committee was seeking to expel PPP from the BN coalition.

When met after the press conference today, Samy Vellu showed little indication that the party's stand on the issue had mellowed.

Quick marriages

Asked for his message to Umno members who will be starting their annual general meeting today, Samy Vellu said he hoped Umno delegates in their debates can address the interests and welfare of all races.

While Samy Vellu said he hoped future generation can "forget" race-based politics and affect a BN undivided by ethnicities, this should not be hurried.

"It is not simply a matter of looking for a bride, getting married, and by tomorrow you're already living together. Quick marriages lead to quick divorces. It must be thought out (thoroughly). All future generations must accept the idea of unity," he said.

When asked if a marriage between PPP and MIC was possible, however, Samy Vellu was quick to quash any such possibilities.

"No. No marriage," he snapped.

"But we will (continue to) absorb their members," he added. As he walked away, he indicated his annoyance with the squabble.

"When I hear the name PPP, it reminds of the honking of a car. Beep - beep - beep," said Samy Vellu.

Kayveas was today reported to have agreed to Najib's call for both parties to the end their verbal war.
