Anwar shields Azam from Nurul Izzah

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim came to MACC chief Azam Baki's defence on Saturday.

He told the PKR congress that none were as brave as Azam in going after VIPs.

This came after his daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar won the deputy president's race.

Nurul Izzah had vowed that if she won, she would confront Anwar about Azam's contract extension.

It is not clear whether if the two had discussed the matter before Anwar made his remarks.

All eyes on Rafizi's next step

Nurul Izzah's victory meant that Rafizi Ramli was defeated in the PKR deputy president race.

In the lead up to the polls there was some expectation that Rafizi may have a remote chance at retaining his post.

However, he was beaten in a landslide, receiving just 28.3 percent of delegates' votes.

All eyes will now be on whether Rafizi will stick to his guns and resign as economic minister as he said he would if lost.

Meanwhile, in the PKR vice-presidents race, two of Rafizi's allies - Chang Lih Kang and Aminuddin Harun - were re-elected, while Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad came a few hundred votes short of a win.

DAP ministers challenged to quit

Rafizi isn't the only minister with expectations to quit.

The Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement dared DAP's five ministers to resign as a protest over the Attorney-General's Chambers classifying Beng Hock’s death as no further action.

The association said the five should take responsibility on the party's behalf for failing to fulfil promises to seek justice for Teoh.

Thus far besides the Teoh family lawyer Ramkarpal Singh, the only elected DAP politicians to speak out against the NFA decision are Raub MP Chow Yu Hui and Bakri MP Tan Hong Pin.
