Outgoing Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has plans for his next move, which he will reveal after Hari Raya Haji (June 7).

He said his move right now, since he has been on leave since his resignation on Wednesday, is to respond to his messages and join conversations on X.

"I have already planned what to focus on after this, but let's allow everyone to calm down first, (with the upcoming) Hari Raya Haji and so on.

"I'll share more later. The true potential of this country lies in ordinary people. We have to go back to harnessing this potential," Rafizi (above) said on X.

Rafizi's leave will last until June 16, and his resignation is supposed to be effective June 17.

On Wednesday (May 28), Rafizi and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad resigned from their cabinet posts.

Nik Nazmi is on leave until July 3, with his last day in office being July 4.

Keeping mum

The resignation came after their defeat at the recently concluded PKR polls, which saw Rafizi losing the deputy presidency and Nik Nazmi being bumped off the vice-president quartet.

The pair resigned despite party president Anwar Ibrahim saying before the polls that he would not reshuffle the cabinet based on who won or lost.

Rafizi, however, argued it was the principled thing to do.

The Prime Minister's Office responded to their resignation by saying that Anwar, who is the prime minister, had approved their leave applications, but was mum on whether their resignations were accepted.

Yesterday, Nik Nazmi defended himself and Rafizi against accusations of betraying PKR in a brief post on X.

The post came amid undercurrents within PKR, painting Rafizi and his allies as being disloyal.

This included allegations that several MPs aligned with him would be withdrawing support from Anwar as prime minister.
