A Bersatu Youth executive council member mocked PKR over a social media campaign to boost Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s reputation.
According to Ashraf Hayup Khan, the campaign revealed how desperate PKR has become as cracks within its ranks widen.
“It shows tensions within PKR have peaked. People can no longer stomach the rising cost of living.
“This includes the decision to expand the sales and services tax, reviewing the electricity tariff, and the barrage of criticism levelled by Rafizi Ramli.
“As such, the ‘Turun Anwar’ rally slated for July 26 will create a new wave of people’s uprising,” Ashraf said in a statement today.
Yesterday, PKR Women secretary Sangetha Jayakumar confirmed she launched a digital campaign among party members to reshape Anwar’s public image.

The PKR leader told Malaysiakini that she mobilised party members via WhatsApp messages, which Malaysiakini also obtained, to embark on a coordinated social media campaign.
She also made clear that the campaign is not connected to the government’s recent announcement that Malaysians will receive an “extraordinary tribute” soon.
PM under fire
On July 14, hundreds of lawyers joined a rally organised by the Malaysian Bar to deliver a memorandum demanding judicial independence to the prime minister.
This was after the government did not name a replacement for Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, who retired as chief justice, as well as the issue of a senior judge who was accused of judicial interference.
The lawyers made four demands: filling top judicial vacancies, releasing minutes of a recent Judicial Appointments Committee meeting, forming a royal commission of inquiry to probe judicial interference, and addressing overall judicial vacancies.
Earlier, nine PKR lawmakers led by Rafizi called for a royal commission of inquiry as well as the Parliament Special Select Committee on reforms to probe the allegations.
