Ramasamy quotes Shakespeare amid horoscopic 'Turun Anwar' warning

Amid a horoscope warning urging Indians not to turn up for the “Turun Anwar” rally slated on July 26, Urimai chairperson P Ramasamy quotes William Shakespeare to remind the community of the power of determining one’s own fate.

“To invoke some Hindu mythological mumbo jumbo to prevent the participation of Indians in the July 26 rally for Anwar to step down is a mischievous thing to do.

“This mythological crap has been invoked by those in the government to discourage Indians, thinking that they might fall for some mythological religious taboos.

“To quote Shakespeare in Julius Caesar - ‘the fault is not in the stars but in ourselves,” the former lecturer told Malaysiakini today.

Earlier, a video went viral on WhatsApp urging Indians not to join the “Turun Anwar” rally slated for July 26, arguing that the stars “are not aligned”.

The video, emblazoned with the sacred Hindu symbol “Om”, is titled “Hindus, don’t attend the protest. ICCIS advises”.

It was later clarified that ICCIS stands for the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Selangor.

According to the narrator, July 26 falls under the Ashlesha Nakshatra - a star cluster associated with serpents, secrecy, and emotional turbulence.

“Ashlesha is quite volatile, often manipulative and deeply emotional. It is associated with the nagas, serpents, the underworld, secrecy, mass unrest, and underground movements,” the voice intoned.

The narrator also pointed out that the protest’s timing on a Saturday supposedly makes things even more ominous. Saturday is ruled by Saturn, the planet of karma, delays, discipline and cosmic comeuppance.

Participate in political process

On that note, Ramasamy reminded the Indian community that the Madani administration, headed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, has been a big disappointment to the Indian and Hindu community in particular.

As such, the former Penang deputy chief minister said it was pertinent for the community to participate in the country’s political process to effect positive changes.

“All the promises and reforms (by the government) have evaporated into thin air. There is no hope under the present government.

“Indians must actively participate in the political process to determine their own destiny. This is the position of Urimai,” Ramasamy added.
