Six anti-corruption advisory board members receive appointment letters

Six members of the anti-corruption advisory board received their letters of appointment from MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki today.

They were all appointed by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar for a three-year term from July 15, 2025, to July 14, 2028, on the advice of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in accordance with Section 13 of the MACC Act 2009 (Act 694).

In a statement, the MACC said the newly appointed members include former director-general of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) in the Prime Minister’s Department Yusof Ismail, Malaysian Association of Certified Fraud Examiners president Akhbar Satar, and former deputy director-general (operations) of the Public Service Department Zainal Azman Abu Seman.

Also appointed were former deputy secretary-general (management) of the Treasury Othman Semail, National Population and Family Development Board chairperson Narimah Awin, and Enforcement Leadership and Management University vice-chancellor Kassim Noor Mohamed.

According to the MACC, MCMC chairperson Salim Fateh Din has been appointed by Sultan Ibrahim as the new chairperson of the board for a three-year term, effective from Feb 2, 2025, to Feb 1, 2028.

The primary role of the board is to advise the MACC on strategies, policies and any matters related to corruption issues in the country.

“The MACC chief commissioner is appointed as an ex officio member as provided under Section 13(2)(b) of the MACC Act 2009.

“With these appointments, it is hoped that the board will help fulfil public expectations regarding the independence, efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability of the MACC in carrying out its functions,” the statement said.
