The New Straits Times and Star headlined Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's warning that the government will use the Internal Security Act against street demonstrators who threaten national security

The Sun reported that Cameron Highlands MP K Devamany is scheduled to explain his remarks - which sympathise with the Hindraf rally - to Barisan Nasional chief whip and Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak tomorrow.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia led with a report that 101 Hindraf supporters are due to be charged in court today. It also ran Malaysian Institute of Economic Research's speculation that petrol prices will go up 30 sen per litre in the near future.

Utusan also reported that Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob's bid of RM48,000 for a car-registration plate was for a vehicle to ferry guests of the state.

Berita Harian focused on Abdullah's ISA warning and a denial by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) that it has become "mentally impotent" in developing the national language.

Tamil newspapers

Makkal Osai reported that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has sought the intervention of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the plight of Tamils in Malaysia who are being "ill-treated".

The daily also reported MIC President S Samy Vellu as saying that he could gather 50,000 people to protest if he wanted to.

Tamil Nesan 's front page was also packed with news of the Hindraf rally, from the PM's warning to Samy Vellu saying that the plight of the Indian Malaysian community could be solved without resorting to street protests.

Malaysia Nanban too carried stories on Sunday's rally, with the lead story on the release of the protesters yesterday.
