The Board of Architects Malaysia has taken issue with the media’s habit of calling corruption masterminds “architects”, emphasising that real architects design safe and sustainable spaces - not blueprints for crime.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page today, the board condemned the use of their professional title as shorthand for criminal schemers, saying it demeans a regulated vocation dedicated to public service.
