The Sepang magistrate's court will hear on Oct 3 the case against former Kedah Mentri Besar Sanusi Junid for allegedly causing hurt to two Kuala Lumpur International Airport employees in May this year.

The case was to be heard today but was adjourned following an application by Sanusi's counsel, Shahul Hameed Amiruddin, who said Sanusi was unwell to attend the hearing today.

Shahul submitted a medical certificate from Charles Gomez Ear, Nose and Throat clinic excusing Sanusi from attending the court hearing as he was suffering from "vertigo with tinnitus". (It is a condition of the ear which causes pain and ringing noises, which can cause the patient to lose his balance.)

Dr Andrew Charles Gomez certified Sanusi as not fit to attend hearing from Aug 18 to 25.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hanafiah Zakaria did not object and magistrate Kamal Bahrain Omar then adjourned the matter to Oct 3.

Sanusi has not been charged and no plea has been taken from him over the alleged offence. However, the charge sheet has been tendered to the court and it states that Sanusi is charged on two counts of voluntarily causing hurt to Shaiful Abdul Rahman and Mohd Nazri Ishak at Gate A2 KLIA on May 5 at about 12.40am.

Sanusi, also a former Agricultural Minister, is charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which carries the maximum jail sentence of one year or a fine of RM2,000, or both.

It was widely reported that Sanusi had allegedly assaulted the two men for being slow in bringing a wheelchair for Sanusi's aged and frail aunt who had arrived from Singapore.
