A massive power outage has struck large parts of the Klang Valley, with several areas in other states also reporting similar disruptions.

In the Klang Valley, Kepong and several parts of Petaling Jaya - including SS2, Section 51A, PJ Old Town, Section 14, and Gasing Indah - are among the areas affected by the sudden blackout.

Social media users have also reported outages in parts of Johor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and Kedah.

Malacca power plant caused disruption

A power disruption at the Edra Malacca Independent Power Plant has been identified as the cause of the power outage.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) confirmed that the supply interruption stemmed from an incident at the power producer’s station, which led to outages in multiple locations.

TNB said its technical teams are working to restore electricity supply to affected areas in stages.

“The technical team is currently carrying out restoration works to resume supply to all affected users as soon as possible,” TNB said in a Facebook statement a short while ago.

The national utility company also urged members of the public to report any electricity supply disruptions immediately through the following channels:
