PARLIAMENT | No new legislation is needed to address the issue of deepfakes and artificial intelligence (AI) misuse, said Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching in Parliament today.
When questioned by Suhaili Abdul Rahman (PN-Labuan) regarding the government’s existing plans to tackle AI misuse and combat online fraud, Teo said that recent amendments to Section 23(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 588, and the newly implemented Online Safety Act, should be sufficient to address such matters.
